Step #1

Design your vehicle theft prevention strategy. This is the fun part - take all the time you need.
more

  • Kill switch type and location. Will you be using a standard hidden switch, or a "hidden in plain sight" type switch, such as an existing component near your dashboard (like a defunct cruise control lever etc.)? Also keep in mind you can run switches in series in the instance you wanted one that is easily located from the driver's seat, and another hidden in a completely separate location for even better security when parked long-term.
  • NOGOSWITCH purchase and location. First, click "Buy" to get your NOGOSWITCH coming in the mail. Determine where on the vehicle this would best be located. You'll be responsible for running the wires to and from, so you'll need to ensure you have a good route for the wires, and the more hidden the better. For example, you could put the NOGOSWITCH in a very hidden location near the rear of the vehicle and use a wire puller to get the wires through the frame where nobody can see them. You might prefer to have it located closer to your kill switch to avoid running lengthy wires, but it's completely up to you. We recommend sturdy 14 gauge automotive wire.
  • Switched-accessory type and location. NOGOSWITCH will take the ignition juice, and divert it to the 12-volt accessory of your choice. You may prefer to have this accessory (horn, speaker, alarm, etc.) mounted near your NOGOSWITCH, or far from, depending on your needs. You might prefer to tie it into an existing car alarm you already have in place, or the stock vehicle horn. We prefer a high decibel air horn, but you can be as creative with this aspect of your security strategy as you'd like. Have fun with it.
  • Wire and other parts. You'll need to determine the lengths of wire that you'll need, and the type of connectors to go with that. The NOGOSWITCH will come with six wires that have been stripped and ready for your connector - whether you choose butt connectors, male/female connectors, or a snap-in type connector.

Step #2

Mount your kill switch, NOGOSWITCH, any switched-accessory, and run the wire. This part involves some crawling around in and under the vehicle, but can usually be done in under 2-3 hours.
more

  • Install your kill switch, NOGOSWITCH, and switched-accessory in accordance with your locations you selected in your design plan above.
  • Run your two wires from your kill switch to your NOGOSWITCH location. Whether you choose to go under interior upholstery, within the frame, or otherwise, safely run the wire in fashion so that it is both protected and hidden to the extent you're able.
  • Make sure you ground out your 12-volt switched-accessory (such as horn or speaker, etc.) and run the power wire directly to your NOGOSWITCH. It's advised that for additional security you also keep this wire protected and hidden to the extent that you're able to.

Step #3

Connect your NOGOSWITCH. This part only take a few moments to connect the wires to the NOGOSWITCH.

Make certain that you've disconnected your vehicle's battery ground connection!

Use the color code key sent alongside your NOGOSWITCH to connect the six wires.
